TYPICAL MAEVE BINCHY

Was so sad to find out that this was the last book to be written by Maeve Binchy, as she is one of my favourite authors, who sadly passed away just after completing this novel. Chicky Starr returns to Ireland with a secret past, and renovates an old house to be opened as a hotel with a difference. In typical Binchy style, one learns of each of the guests past, and their stay at the guest house. The usual easy read, light hearted, but impossible to put down once started.

A Week in Winter

I have not finished this book yet, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. Sadly it is Maeve Binchy's last novel and I have read all her previous ones. This book is written in her usual gentle, easy-going style and she manages to sketch each new character vividly within a few pages. I recommend this book for an undemanding, cosy read over the Christmas season.
