Matrix

A provocative action thriller that explores the notion that everything we think and believe to be real, is actually an electronically controlled dream world. Set in a visually stunning futuristic world, a young man named Neo learns the disturbing truth and is pursued by a ruthless team of "agents". Every move, every second, every thought becomes a fight to stay alive, escape the matrix and free humankind. It is a rousing action-thriller with martial-arts sequences that break new ground in American movie making. It will leave you breathless!

the best movie of all time

yes, I am somewhat of a geek and this is not only the best sci-fi actioner of all time, I consider it the best, most original movie ever. it's sequal were not a spectacular, but still good enough to be regarded as continuing the story. a must-have for any sci-fi lover ever.

Genre defining!

To this day the Matrix trilogy proves epic in the Sci-Fi genre. Its offers an assault on the senses - mind-blowing visuals, bone-rattling sound, brain-crunching plot...you can almost taste the lead. Epic!

Very futuristic

This movie will certainly get your brain muscles working. A computer hacker named Neo discovers that all life on Earth may be nothing more than a facade created by cyber-intelligence, for the purpose of placating us while our life essence is "farmed" to fuel the Matrix's campaign of domination in the "real" world. He joins Rebel warriors Morpheus and Trinity in their struggle to overthrow the Matrix. A classic.

Matrix is one of the best DVD for under R150

I must say that this is a very nice DVD, that has a nice film to dvd transfer, and the menu is nicely animated. It lacks some features, but the movie makes up for it.

One of the greatest movies on a truly crappy disc.

I cannot stress how much I love this movie - the Wachowski Brothers have crafted one seriously imaginative sci-fi action yarn with some of the most innovative special effects ever recorded on celluloid.

So why shouldn't you buy it if it's that good...for the sole reason that the version sold in South Africa is the same as the one sold in the UK which has 10 seconds removed--it's not severe, but if you'd prefer to have the complete version then rather obtain a US or Australian import.

The cuts occur when Morpheus meets Agent Smith for the first time in the bathroom.During this scene 4 headbutts are removed and later,Smith and Neo headbutt each other 2 times each during the subway fight.Like I said, it's not severe but if you're as anal as me,you'd want the full version.BTW audio-commentary is also lost due to the cuts.

So, there you have it..Part 1 of one of the greatest trilogies ever on a disappointing disc.Thumbs down BBFC !
