And so were born The Commitments... However all does not go smoothly, and soon their success on stage is overshadowed by their off-stage rivalry.

This is one of the best Irish feel-good movies of the early 1990's, it is guaranteed to have you laughing, cringing and singing along. Watch out for the bit parts and cameos by Andrea and Jim Corr and the man himself, Alan Parker. Strong soul music soundtrack.

this has got soul, brother

I've never been to Dublin, and chances are will never do...but I've seen The Commitments, and it can only imagine it captures the intensity and sensitivity of these troubled Irish souls. The movie is atmospheric and the scenery beautifully raw, and the music is electrifying - it stirs the emotions, and get your feet and fingers tapping. You don't watch this movie, you experience it with your soul.
