Su Casa

Su Casa hot on the heels of their huge success last year of their debut album, Mi Casa Music, expectations were high for the follow-up. And boy, does it impress - Su Casa shot straight to No 1 on the SA chart on the day of its release, and deservedly so. Micasa has broken new ground as a house group, and after the success of their debut self-titled album selling more than platinum status in South Africa, all eyes are on the trio to deliver another smash record.

The 2012 Sama winning, dynamic group has only been together for two years and came together at a night club and comprises of vocalist-guitarist J'Something, trumpeter Mo-T and producer and keyboardist Dr Duda.

The album was self produced by the group and lends itself towards a more 'vibey and joyful sound'; whilst still retaining the Micasa flavour that the country has loved from the onset. Because of the origins of the group, most of the songs were made on the road, at soundcheck or in their hotel rooms. They bought a mobile studio specifically for that reason. This attitude is what sets them apart from other house groups. It gives their music spontaneity, an honesty that is also innocent.

Like all the most blissful, sensuous moments of your life, at 15 tracks, Su Casa can feel like an hour-plus of the hottest grooves and tempo - this is a very laidback and classy vibe. So come suitably dressed for the occasion.

Lead singer of the group J' Something says, "We hope our fans are ready for this project. We made it for them. This is their 'casa' and we are extremely proud". Urban jazz-house trio Mi Casa's new album is filled with sensual, upbeat tunes. All the tracks are worth a listen but our favourite is their current hit, Jika - we've even learnt the dance! Now you can too! Local is indeed lekker!
