Reflecting the cuisine of this region, The Karoo cookbook, is filled with delicious recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. In addition to superb food photography, there are full colour scenic photographs that give the reader a sense of place, while black and white and colour photographs of historic buildings and people create a feeling of nostalgia and intimacy. As expected, the 100+ recipes feature food traditionally associated with the Karoo but also reveal the influence of modern trends, proving that this is a dynamic cuisine and certainly not one frozen in time. The fresh produce of the region is well highlighted. A calendar of events is included, e.g. the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, the Olive Festival and the Ostrich Festival.
