Previous editions of this text focused on transitioning practitioners to a new paradigm of practice in community pharmacies, embracing both clinical skills and practice management. The 3rd edition focuses on student learning of the basic skills needed to provide pharmaceutical care to patients regardless of the practice setting. Section 1 (Practice Skills), comprising the first 6 chapters, is dedicated to learning each of the needed skills and the process of providing care. Section 2 (Skill Application in Practice), comprising the next 4 chapters, shows the application of the skills through case studies in community pharmacies, hospitals, long-term-care settings, and ambulatory-care settings.
