Through interviews with people who knew and loved Msizi, he seeks to explain the life and struggles of the man who earned himself a place in history as 'the hero of Lamontville'. The Natal worker history porject is an oral history project based at the University of Natal. It aims to research and write history based on popular memory, giving a voice to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity of leaving a historical record. These popular histories are written in language that is accessible to scholars, students and workers.
