Long description
Poetry belongs to people. Words and ideas are incubated in the heart, human voices and hands are moved to speak, or to write those words. Banana Crates & Wire Mesh spans several decades and sheds Mario d' Offizi's unique and often brutally honest light on a wide range of subjects, from the taboo to the mundane. The author writes freely, and he writes from the heart. Whatever form poetry takes, no matter how the distinctions between poetry and prose are blurred, its value lies in a two-fold process. The first part of that process is the distinctly private moment of interaction and alchemy between the poet, his experience, and the words he commits to the page. The second part belongs to us, the readers of the work, in the discovery of this world.
