With many churches declining numerically in the Western world, CWR Director of Training Ron Kallmier ran a workshop entitled Closing the Back Door of the Church . To his surprise, four times the number expected showed up and he has repeated the course several times to date. Fellow tutor Andy Peck has taken the workshop material and added fresh insights and examples to deliver a book to inform believers affected by the present trends, whether they have attended the workshop or not. The book looks at why people leave local churches, why people leave the Church as a whole and what leaders and church members can do to prevent and stem the losses. It concludes that we need not be fearful of trends continuing but can, God helping us, adjust our sails to enable the Spirit to lead us speedily through the present choppy waters to become churches that serve believers and those not yet in the kingdom.
