It covers the principal engineering fields and contains approximately 17,500 entries, each accompanied by a pronunciation guide. Coverage includes terms in the fields of: building construction; chemical engineering; civil engineering; control systems; design engineering; engineering acoustics; industrial engineering; information technology and computing; mechanical engineering; systems engineering; telecommunications; and themodynamics. The entries are supplemented by conversion tables, explanations of scientific, technical and mathematical notation, as well as tables of statistical and historical interest.
