Short description
They were the first people to cycle unsupported around the world, while raising money for charity. In a year less one day, Andy, a petroleum executive, and Tim, a rugby playing teacher of English and PE, pedal their way across the deserts of Australia, the bushlands of Africa, and the Andes. This is a tale of self discovery.
Long description
Their goal was to become the first people to ride mountain bikes unsupported across the three southern continents and, in doing so, to raise money for the charity, Intermediate Technology. This is a fast moving tale of self-discovery; it is full of adventure, conflict, humour, danger and a multitude of colourful characters. Much more than a travelogue, it proves ordinary people can chase great dreams.
Review
'I know little about bicycles, but to attempt to pedal fifteen thousand kilometres without back-up, through some of the most demanding terrain on earth, is clearly no mean undertaking.' Sir Ranulph Fiennes 'Its power comes from the excellence of writing.' The Independent 'Truly inspirational reading...10/10.' Cycling Plus Magazine
