In effective educational management we have attempted to provide the educational leader with guidelines for an efficient as well as an effective educational management practice. An efficient educational management practice implies that the educational leader must be able to manage correctly in the school situation. In the absence of an effective management style, the educational leader will most probably not be able to fit in his duties at school nor his responsibilities at home. In this publication attention is given to the nature, substance, origin and practice of educational management. In the RSA Educational Management features as a recent scientific development of Education which has established itself, and as an educational management and training practice it has a place at most teritiary training institutions. The establishment of this subject may in part be ascribed to the fact that educational management is presented and studied as it manifests in practice - and not merely the application of general management principles or the implementation of business management principles in education.
