Long description

Jamie's back with a vengeance. This time he's tackling school dinners and family meals . Jamie's Dinners sees Jamie Oliver going back to basics in the kitchen to revolutionise family meals. Jamie believes this is his most people-friendly book yet. To start with, he takes a look at how to get the most out of your kitchen without spending too much money on making it work. In Family Tree' he takes recipes several different ways, giving you confidence whilst at the same time hoping to get you hooked on learning more. He also reveals the world's most-loved food from a global website survey he conducted: the Top Ten dishes that families love to eat together. See if your favourite makes the list. Then follow Jamie as he takes on arguably his biggest and bravest challenge yet - to uncover the shocking truths about school meals and try to reinvent them for good. And with sandwiches being the most eaten food in Britain, he shows how simple it is to transform your lunchbox and your lunchtime. With over 100 brand new recipes, this book is all about making cooking inspiring and accessible. This is the perfect cookbook for everybody

Unlike his other books, these recipes contain ingredients that are mostly kept in your kitchen. They are so easy to follow, and yummy scrummy. I highly recommend it!

It left a good taste in my mouth

The one thing lacking about Jamie Oliver's latest, in fact all of his books is this: You end up longing to hear his cute lisp-laden voice pronounce garlic and asparagath in the only the way a working class Brit can do it. Be that as it is, the book is filled with a joi de vivre that only serves to whet your appetite in anticipation. For our anniversary my fiance and I thought we'd cook up something special. Not having alot of time to prepare (who has) we settled on a course consisting of a bouillion a la minute as a starter, a choice between Cuisses de grenouilles / brandade de morue as the main dish and a creme-brulee concoction of beetroot and aronia-berry as dessert. Since I'm allergic to peanuts I was disappointed at being unable to try out the deliciously-looking recipe for mille-feuille which I once saw Jamie prepare on TV. Jamie recommends a room-cooled red wine with beef, so I went for a 1989 late-harvest Shiraz pinotage to compliment the varied flavours of the dish. The evening was spectacular. Thank your Jamie Oliver - you've done it again, mate!
