Many changes have occurred in veterinary medicine and anesthesia, with each succeeding edition of this definitive reference faithfully updating and documenting these advances. In recent years, the ever increasing emphasis on the treatment of animal pain has placed veterinary anesthesiology and pain management in a central role in the delivery of humane veterinary care. Accordingly, the increased importance of analgesia is highlighted in this new edition by the inclusion of several chapters focusing on recent advancements in animal pain management and most noticeably is reflected in its new title, "Lumb and Jones' Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia". This edition of Lumb and Jones' has 63 contributing authors, offering a wide breadth of author scientific training and clinical experience.
