Falls in assisted living facilities are a critical issue - each year between 30 per cent and 50 per cent of assisted living residents experience a fall. This CD-ROM is designed to help assisted living facilities improve their falls management programs. Direct care staff will learn to better understand and manage the risks for falling, as well as what to do when a fall occurs. Based on the work of experienced gerontologist Rein Tideiksaar, the CD-ROM contains a PowerPoint presentation for effective staff training. Also included are a wealth of screening and assessment tools; guidelines for a basic falls prevention program; and educational handouts for families and staff. All documents are included in both Microsoft Word and PDF formats.
