Review

The fifth edition of Radio Production contains the wealth of ideas and practical examples that the book has always offered. Readers who have seen each edition will recognise some of the material from the earliest days but much in this edition is new and fresh...this book remains the essential manual for all radio trainers and a valuable reference for producers of all levels of experience. - International Communication Training Institute newsletter 'There are other practical textbooks on the market, but none which combines instruction in the how and why of local broadcasting quite as effectively.' Broadcast Magazine 'Great for students and professionals. Keep it by your mixing desk... you can't go wrong with McLeish.' Customer review, Amazon.co.uk 'Pick this book up and you'll be just about set to venture out and set up your own radio station. If you have an interest in broadcasting, radio, internet radio, or anything near being similar to radio, you need to read this book.' Customer review, Amazon.com 'Very well written and covers all aspects of radio production including music, documentary, drama etc. It is simple to read and understand and is a must for anyone who is in need of some help with any aspect of radio production, especially students on a media course studying radio.' Customer review, Amazon.co.uk 'An exceptionally well presented, thorough, and useful book.' Bill Dorris, Lecturer, School of Communications, Dublin City University, Ireland 'It provides a sound introduction to the subject. It is the only title of its kind. There is currently not another title that covers British Radio production in as broad a manner as this.' Ken Hall, Lecturer, Media Production, University of Teesside, UK 'It's undoubtedly a classic text for radio production in the UK context.' Chris Priestman, Senior lecturer in Radio and Broadcast Journalism, Staffordshire University, UK

This book is the ultimate Bible for radio production training. It covers virtually every aspect of radio production and will help the student and experienced producer and presenter alike. We use it in training radio students as our core textbook. The 2005 edition comes with a great companion CD with exercises, tips and examples that help lift your standards to new levels. I would recommend this book to anyone who is entering broadcasting as well as experienced broadcasters wanting brush up on their skills.
