Resistance art was the author classic account of the visual art against apartheid. The single-minded thrust of the title was to show the diversity of political thought and action as interpreted by a broad swathe if artists and to act as an agent of empowerment and change in it's own way. Had Mandela's release and the unbanning of the African National Congress been foreseen or come first, it might have seemed necessary to re-investigate the whole premise of the title.
