Long description
This title is a substantial revision of my earlier work, The Holocaust and South Africa; How do they Compare? It is a continuation of my attempt to bridge a cross-cultural divide, and to create a better understanding of the horror and hopelessness of Jewish life in Germany when the Nazis were in power, and of the National Party government’s insensitivity and callousness towards the misery, trauma and indignity inflicted on the people who lived in the shadow of apartheid. It examines two counties where, in the 20th century, state-sponsored racism held sway, where the population was divided into two groups, the 'superior' race, and those who were disadvantaged and discriminated against. The different motivations in the two countries are examined, as are the social controls, restriction of living areas and disparities in employment experienced by the groups targeted for discrimination. There is an in depth discussion on the differences in the implementation of torture and murder.
