Long description

An introduction to Visual Basic, a new programming language, from a beginning programmer's point of view. Not merely an extension of the classical Basic programming language, now largely obsolete, Visual Basic is a meld of two different items: a set of predefined library procedures for opening windows, creating menus and dialog boxes, and defining the appearance of objects within a Microsoft Windows environment; and a set of programming commands taken from the classical Basic programming language. This new outline will include a variety of examples that emphasize both the Visual Basic environment and the Visual Basic command set. The focus of this book is on creating simple applications that operate within the various Microsoft Windows environments (Windows 95/98, NT), and complete, solved examples illustrate a range of material from simple points to comprehensive programming problems. There is a set of programming problems for students at the end of every chapter and an appendix summarizes the features of Visual Basic.
