Short description

Using examples ranging from disputes in small organisations to large-scale conflicts in countries around the world, this volume offers practical methods for working with conflict, leadership crises, stagnation, abuse, terrorism, violence, and other social action issues. It provides tools to enable people to use conflict to build community.

Long description

Lao Tse Press is the publishing house of process work, Arnold Mindell's revolutionary approach to unfolding the human capacity for healing. We take our name from the Taoist sage Lao Tse, who believed that nature reveals the path if only we have the love and awareness to follow it through good times and bad. Like Taoism, in which process work is rooted, Lao Tse Press's books begin where conventional wisdom ends.

Process work represents a unique market, a discipline that spans the boundaries of psychotherapy, mind-body healing, couples and family counseling, and work with those in coma or near death, as well as conflict resolution, and facilitation of large and diverse groups. Lao Tse Press's threefold mission is to publish new titles by the Mindells and their colleagues, to publish new editions of earlier process work titles, and to publish the Journal of Process Oriented Psychology.

Mindell has not only an understanding of the psychology of conflict, but the insight that many disputes can be traced back to inequalities of rank and power. He openly discusses difficulties rarely acknowledged, providing tools that will enable people to "sit in the fire" of conflict -- and use it to build community and promote peace.
