Some of my best friends are white

Short description

Some of my best friends are white is a collection of sharp, satirical essays on contemporary South African issues from the point of view of a successful corporate professional – who just happens to be Zulu.

Long description

Some of my best friends are white is a collection of sharp, satirical essays on contemporary South African issues from the point of view of a successful corporate professional – who just happens to be Zulu. Crossing various controversial, amusing and downright confusing racial divides, the title delivers a healthy dose of black – and white – humour as it explores some of the rainbow nation's defining characteristics, its many colourful characters and its myriad mysterious idiosyncrasies.

  Educational, enlightening and entertaining

A most enlightening book. I finally understand the thing about black people and BMWs, what my black neighbours in the suburbs really think when we smile at each other in the driveway and even why it is that black kids won't ask questions in class. Now if more people wrote books like this there would be fewer misunderstandings and national peace and harmony would be a whole lot closer. I loved the critique of democracy and now look at Zulu men in a whole new light. For a light, completely un-PC but educational and highly entertaining read this is well worth buying.
