Short description
Heres a quick, portable, well-illustrated source on a full range of surgical conditions! Each chapter succinctly reviews the clinical features, differential diagnosis, management, and prognosis
of a particular surgical condition, accompanied by 4 to 6 high-quality color clinical photographs.
Readers will also find self-review picture tests, with answers, at the back of the book. The result is
an ideal resource for exam preparation and a handy review for surgical rounds.
Long description
This series of books is aimed at all health science students requiring an introductory, low cost and highly illustrated guide to the clinical specialties. The material is presented in double page spreads. The left-hand page has a synoptic and highly structured text (normally under the following headings: incidence; clinical features; differential diagnosis; management; prognosis). The right-hand page has a selection of four to six clinical photographs. Because of shorter hospital stays and more outpatient treatment the student is less likely to be able to see these conditions on the ward. The books are a convenient pocket size and are ideal for quick preparation before ward rounds. Each volume also includes self-assessment material ideal for preparation for examinations.
Review
The In Focus series are useful 'trigger texts' i.e. they give enough information so that you want to read further or continue your learning on the internet. The colours have been used nicely, with realistic print colours of patients, instruments and slides. The set out of the books are ideal with good, quick refernce contents, making the series ideal for students in Clinics and/or ward rounds.
