The Earthsea Quartet

Short description

Contains the four stories of the Earthsea quartet, A Wizard of Earthsea , The Tombs of Atuan , The Farthest Shore and Tehanu . Earthsea is an ancient world of wizards, magic, darkness and light, and an ever-shifting balance of power.

Long description

A superb four-part fantasy, comparable with the work of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, the Earthsea books follow the fortunes of the wizard Ged from his childhood to an age where magic is giving way to evil. As a young dragonlord, Ged, whose use-name is Sparrowhawk, is sent to the island of Roke to learn the true way of magic. A natural magician, Ged becomes an Archmage and helps the High Priestess Tenar escape from the labyrinth of darkness. But as the years pass, true magic and ancient ways are forced to submit to the powers of evil and death.

This book is an amazing piece of fantasy. This book is one of my favourites and I have read it over and over. You can immerse yourself in all the imagery of the Roke island, you go with and get hurt, both physically and mentally, when Ged is injured and as he travels the world you mourn with his lossses. His triumphs are yours and you see what he does in the Tombs. This is just the most wonderful book. BUY IT - you will not be sorry.
