The Glass Tower is a fascinating novel which looks at the world from the perspective of people from different cultures. The story – which is really a collection of individuals’ stories – is set in and around a multinational corporation, but I wouldn’t describe it as a business book. It explores what it’s like to work for a big company but what really makes the novel worth reading is what it reveals about us as human beings, and how little we know ourselves. Being a South African, it was also familiar and fascinating to read about life within one's own country; the author is disarmingly accurate in that he has obviously traveled extensively and has a real knowledge of the places he writes about.
