Short description

A new way of working has emerged at Semco: hammocks where people rest during the day, Retire-a-Little Plans, the end of the head office, and more. The results: inordinate success for 20 years, and an organization that covers an enormous range of business activity. This book tells the fascinating and unlikely story of how this can be achieved.

A follow up to Maverick! In this book Ricardo Semler focuses more on time management and how to be able to separate work and play (and mix the two together in Semco style). Very good read.

  Think again about your priorties

I picked this book to read on a flight to Sao Paula and it had a major impact on me in both the personal and business sense. It advocates priorites; do things with your children, don't expand for the sake of growth, breakdown structure and make your own decisions. Well worth a read if you are changing jobs or moving cities and you can dictate work conditions. The text jumps around a bit so it makes it easy to read in tranches. It has been a guide for my own priorities. I take my son to swimming lessons; only father there - what are rest doing when I am soaking up quality time - working.
