Review
In a new translation by Walter Kaufmann and R. J. Hollingdale, and edited by Walter Kaufmann this is "the first critical edition, in any language, of Nietzsche's most controversial work." Dr. Kaufmann discusses the nature of the work, a selection from Nietzsche's notebooks of the years 1883 through 1888, but presented here in Schlechta's systematic arrangement to facilitate reading, particularly through all the notes dealing with art or religion or the theory of knowledge. Includes a running commentary on the text, a comprehensive index, and indications of which notes were later used in Nietzsche's books. (Kirkus Reviews)
