This Mid-Size binocular weighs 570g.

Roof prism designs have straight barrels with the front objective in-line with the eye piece. This design architecture makes it possible to produce more compact binoculars than porro or inverted porro designs. Optical consequences of the design are that roof prisms are more expensive to manufacture than porro binoculars of the same quality and require phase distortion coatings to eliminate the reduced contrast and sharpness caused by phase distortion – a roof prism phenomenon. Roof prisms also produce a more photographically normal depth perception than porro prisms because the lens barrels are in line with the eyepieces.

Bak-4 Prisms (barium crown glass) are the highest quality, producing no internal light loss.

Coating Rating

Coatings help improve light transmission, especially in roof prism designs. This binocular is rated as FULLY MULTI-COATED, meaning that all surfaces have more than one coating.

Special Coatings

PC-3 Phase Coating corrects the phase distortion inherent in roof prism designs by correcting light colour transmission to restore contrast and resolution.

Eye relief

The 19mm eye relief on this binocular provides superb viewing comfort for both spectacle and non-spectacle wearers.

Exit Pupil

This binocular has an exit pupil of 5.1mm, for use in dim twilight and dawn light, ideal for hunting, wildlife observation and birding.
