438...Choke on that Aussies!

438... It just rolls off the tongue doesn't it! As a proud SA Cricket supporter who had been suffering quite a bit of late, ever since that infamous 1999 World Cup Semi-Final, I must admit that I'd switched my TV off.
Hey, I mean there is only so much pain a bloke can take, particularly since we held a 2-0 advantage and I thought, here we go again, losing another series to the Aussies. The DVD presents an opportunity to watch ALL the action that I had missed before news spread about the amazing game unfolding in front of our very eyes. The interviews with the players are quite entertaining and give quite a nice insight into their state of mind as the game evolved.
South Africa have been unfairly labeled as chokers. You look at say India, who have lost more ODI Finals and crunch games than any of the big teams but the label, given by the Aussies, seemed to stick to the SA Cricket team. Well no longer! Aaah, revenge is sweet.
That ghost has been banished in this remarkable game that can only be described as pure cricketing ecstasy.
All one can say to our long time tormentors, the Aussies, is 438... You must be choking...

Unfortuntely the greatest game has not been translated into the greatest DVD. All they have done is recorded the entire match without any value adds like chapters, higlights of specific batsmen's innings, expert commentary on the play, interviews with crowd members etc. Overall it seems amateurish and lazy to simply slap the game on a disc and release it on the assumption that loyal fans will buy it regardless of quality.
I am also bought the 2005 Ashes Box set which shows just how this kind of product should be made.

I am absolutely stoked about the result, it will give me enough bragging rights for years to come living in Australia.
I am used to higher standards for DVDs. This is undoubtedly the best ODI in history, but it didnt get the best producing company to do it justice. I guess they had to give a young SA company a chance to give them a step ahead in business. They didn't have interviews with any of the australian players. It was a remarkable feat from both teams, and the aussies deserved a bit more in terms of highlights, interviews and pictures. Even other SA team members deserved some airtime.
The black faded corners effect when interviewing players is probably most annoying and shows the amateurism of the producers.
Looking forward to showing the footage to some friends over here.

Firstly, what excellent service. Even Kalahari's first advert doesn't do it justice. "Click, click, ding, dong". Service was even faster than that. Thrilled to bits my Grandson received his Christmas present on time. Will definitely use Kalahari again.

Great game, horrible DVD

The only reason I haven't given this DVD the worst possible rating is because the game itself was just remarkable. This however then paints the really poor quality of the dvd in stark contrast to the material. The actual image qulaity I found to be substandard and reaks of people trying to do this on the cheap. The menu options are not poor because they are non-existant. The interviews are ok, but again look like they were quickly thrown in to add a bit of value. This should have been do so much better. I hear mention of the Ashes DVD; don't bother comparing as that was put together by professionals and this clearly was not. This could have been so much more. The only reason I own it is that it's the only publication of this sort available for the game. Another example of why the cricket governing body in SA is so bad, bad, bad.
