The lizard is a little broken

Who remembers the film Super Troopers? You know, the film with the highway cops who predominantly waste their time on pranks and shenanigans? Well if you did watch it, you probably enjoyed it as much as I did. That was Broken Lizard's (the production and acting team) first movie. Definitely in my top 20 films of all time. The problem with a great film like Super Troopers is that afterwards people expect of you to top your previous achievement with an even better one...and this is exactly what happened with Club Dread. It's not scary enough to be thriller, too silly to be a horror and too serious to be a comedy. A good posse of actors and some snappy one-liners proves that this is a Broken Lizard film, but the sad fact is that that's the only real solid thing the movie had going for it. And that really isn't enough to justify me buying it. Hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes and stick to true comedies from now on.
