Unsure of her father and brother's fate, Ariana is now truly alone. She seeks comfort in the arms of a German soldier, but the harsh war claims him as yet another victim. Pregnant with his child, Ariana realizes she has nothing left from her past but her late mother's signet ring. She decides to flee to America to start her life again.
