Long description
A TALE OF EGYPT is the biblical account of the Exodus, centered on the figure of Moses. Hidden in the bulrushes as a baby, for fear of the ruling Pharaoh’s determination to destroy all male Hebrew children, Moses is discovered and raised as an Egyptian by the Pharaoh’s daughter (and his own mother, as her servant). As a young prince, drawn in a strange passionate sympathy to the slaves who are in fact his people, Moses strikes down a cruel overseer and flees into the desert to live as a shepherd with a nomadic Hebrew tribe. How he eventually returns to Egypt to lead his people form bondage to freedom in their own land – which he himself will never see – is a legend that reverberates far beyond the confines of the Old Testament, into our won life-times.
