This is the kind of film that goes down as a classic not because of it's brilliant directing or performances, but more the legacy it left behind through a long series of sequels.Highly entertaining, but not in the same class as Halloween and Scream(The first installment-No sequels). This film does not feature the iconic Jason, but his evil mother(as per Scream reference). The effects are outdated and the suspence did not stand the test of time. If you love the horror/thriller genre and are willing to except that this film is 25 years old, this is the film for you.

And so it begins with this:
Directed by sean S. Cunningham (A Stranger is Watching), this was to be the first movie in what would become the longest running slasher series of all time. The plot revolves around a group of Crystal Lake camp councillers that are systematically slaughtered one by one, on (you guessed it) Friday the 13th.
Not for fans of the romantic comedy genre.
Rated R for language, violence, nudity and sex
Starring: Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Harry Crosby and Kevin Bacon

This is the best in the Friday the 13th sequels. It has you gripped from the beginning to the very end. The end was a real shocker and had we jumping out of my seat.
