After a wretched childhood as an orphan, and two years of being a teacher, Jane Eyre yearns for new experiences. She accepts a governess position at Thornfield Manor, where she tutors a lively French girl named Adele. She soon finds herself falling in love with the brooding owner of Thornfield; the dark and impassioned Mr Rochester. Penniless and hungry, she finds shelter and friendship in the shape of a kind clergyman and his family. But she is soon shocked to uncover the hidden truth of her own past...
