King Arthur

Short description

The Romans are leaving. The political void left by them sees the start of a struggle for power amongst the remaining tribes. Arthur's Knights have been given their last mission to save a child from the Saxon onslaught...

Long description

The full-blooded version of Antoine Fuqua's gritty interpretation of the Arthurian legend! Britain, the 6th century: Artorious Castus (Owen), better known among his people as Arthur, is the leader of a select group of Sarmatian knights who, after impressing the occupying Roman forces with their fighting skills and righteous honour, have been incorporated into the elite ranks of the Roman army. However, the occupying forces are withdrawing from Britain to protect Rome from the onslaught of barbarians on the continent and with freedom on the horizon after 15 years of bloody service, Arthur and his knights must protect the liberty of the country from invading Saxons...

  Thy film doeth dissapoint...

If this is the true story of King Arthur and his knights as the makers of this film want us to believe, I'm genuinely surprised that there was so much hype about him. Although it can be seen that there were great amounts of time and money spent on the casting and locations, the storyline itself could be compared to a snail race - very little happens at an extremely slow pace. No character development whatsoever takes place, some characters (e.g Merlin who's only seen twice in the film) are just inserted into the film without any apparent reason for being there and are killed off just as mysteriously. Events drag on more than they should - the last half hour of the film is a repetitive battle scene against the "almighty" saxons. I honestly feel that this is a boring film - I'd advise to rather watch/collect Gladiator (Russel Crowe) or First Knight, (Sean Connery) both better made films of the same genre. Though unlikely, the uncut version may be better.

  KING ARTHUR FAN

I loved this movie. The fact that King Arthur and his knights were not portrayed as mythical characters but rather real people, warts 'n all, is refreshing. If you're looking for witches and wizards then this movie is most definitely NOT for you. I'm a huge epic's fan and this movie didn't disappoint at all.
