Queen Of The Damned

Short description

His thirst for life enchanted her.
His thirst for fame awoke her.
His thirst for power may kill us all.

Legendary Vampire Lestat has risen from a decades-long slumber, determined to step out into the light. No longer content with being banished to the shadows, moving among mortals who never truly see him for what he is, Lestat has reinvented himself as the closest thing to a god on Earth: a rock star.

The intoxicating lure of his music has snaked its way around the globe, ultimately finding the ear of the slumbering ancient Queen Akasha (AALIYAH) in her crypt beneath the Arctic ice. Mother of all Vampires, Akasha has been resting for centuries, waiting for the right time to rise again and seize dominion over the world. Lestat’s music is the revelation she has been waiting for, and she desires that he rule beside her.

But can Akasha be stopped? Her malevolent power may be too great for even the most ancient of the immortal Vampires to combat - she created them, and their survival depends on her own.

After all, Akasha is used to getting everything she wants... and all she wants is Hell on Earth.

The mother of all Vamp Movies...

I was very unsure of this film when it was first released, I loathed the original "Interview with a Vampire", not becuase it was a bad movie, but becuase it was so darn boring, so I never cuaght Queen of the Damned on the big screen, and boy am I upset I missed it. Queen is so much more entertaining than Interview, the music, the look and feel, and the vampires themselves are great. The story revolves around Lestat (played by Tom Cruise in Interview), he claims he's tired of the world and of living forever, so he takes a very long nap, only to awake a few years later to some music he hears coming from a nearby Goth/Rock band, he joins them, and quickly he becomes the most popular rock singer ever. This fame and fortune quickly ticks off the other vamps due to the attention they are now getting and they turn against him, unfortunately he also awakens the Queen of all vamps(played brilliantly by the sadly recently deseased Aaliyah) who is set to destroy the world. The story is very forgetable, but the look and feel of the movie is perfect. I really felt like I was seeing a part of history, and vampires have never been so interesting. Leave your brain at the door, turn off all the lights, and pump up your sound system, this one Rocks!!
