Finally a film from my favourite genre, horror. 'The Silence Of The Lambs' is not your typical blood, guts and gore horror flick. It is a rare find in this genre, psychologically terrifying, brilliantly acted and a gripping adaptation of a bestselling novel. The film introduces audiences to Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling, complex characters who have acquired cult status because of the brilliance of the actors who portray them. The characters were brought to life by veteran actor Anthony Hopkins and the brilliant Jodie Foster, both of them receiving critical acclaim (including my own) which ultimately culminated in Academy Award wins for the both of them. Anthony Hopkins has less than 20 minutes of screen time in this film yet his incredible performance of Hannibal Lecter lingers through its entirety. It's a gripping cat and mouse game between the two characters as they try to outwit serial killer Buffalo Bill, albeit with apparently different motives. Starling in order to prove her worth and Lecter in order to delve deep into the psyche of a person so deeply troubled by her past, something a psychologist finds extremely appetising, excuse the pun. The film kept me glued to my seat from start to finish. I loved it. 'The Silence Of The Lambs' is a fantastic addition to my favourite genre and a deserved winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture, the only horror 'movie' that has ever managed that feat.

This film is incredible. It's one of the greatest book to film adaptations ever created. Jodie Foster & Anthony Hopkins are amazing. It's the ultimate serial killer movie.
