Unaware of his heritage, Dantin copes by escaping into a fantasy world of knights, kings, and queens created by the books he reads every day, only to be dragged back into the reality of his life every morning. As if answering his wildest dreams, Dantin is suddenly whisked away to Pangadesh, a magical world filled with elves, dwarves, and talking animals where Dantin is the true prince. He finds that his parents are still alive, but held in captivity by his evil uncle, Sarpene.
