  What's the point?

I bought this cover not realizing that it would not be soft, but instead is rigid but very thin plastic. It looks nice, but the first time I dropped my phone it cracked. I suppose it kept my phone from cracking but I do not want to replace a R250 case every time I drop my phone. What is the point of this type of cover?
