Short description
From acclaimed action-director John McTiernan (Die Hard, The Hunt for Red October, Predator) and screenwriter James Vanderbilt comes Basic, a riveting, multi-layered suspense thriller. Joining John Travolta, Connie Nielsen and Samuel L. Jackson is an ensemble of some of today's most compelling young actors including Giovanni Ribisi, Brian Van Holt, Taye Diggs, Cristian De La Fuente, Dash Mihok and Roselyn Sanchez. Travolta stars as Tom Hardy, an ex-Army Ranger turned DEA agent, who is drawn into an ever-widening mystery surrounding the disappearance of the feared and often hated Sgt. Nathan West (Jackson), as well as several of his elite Special Forces trainees on what appears, at first, to have been a routine training exercise during a hurricane in the jungles of Panama. Only two survivors are found, Dunbar (Brian Van Holt), and a badly wounded Kendall (Giovanni Ribisi), the son of a high-profile Joint Chiefs of Staff official. Neither is willing to cooperate with Capt. Julia Osborne's (Connie Nielsen) investigation. So base commander Col. Bill Styles (Tim Daly) calls in ex-Ranger Hardy, an old friend and a persuasive interrogator.

The plot is complicated, there are twists everwhere, usually unexpected, but the ending is brilliant! You have to watch this movie atleast twice to fully grasp the complexities, and it's well worth it! Again Ribisi, a completely underrated actor, proves his worth.

It was okay, but I just could not stop thinking of "The Generals Daughter" while watching it. They also made the plot way to complicated
