Unless you have ADSL, don't waste your money. Even with installing the game from the disc there is still a 4GB download to wait for. I only have a 1GB cap for my 3G, so it will take me 4 months of downloading before I can finally play the game.
I wish the companies that make these game would specify that fact on the box.

Not worth buying really. On single player your team is constantly in line of fire, when trying to dodge bullets they are in your way so in my opinion the AI is pathetic of your team. They do not even cover you when you have to run past all the enemies to get to the chopper for example or they are shooting extremely k*k. The multiplayer looks interesting if there where more than two people on the SA servers.

As above, massive download during install is pretty annoying. I have uncapped internet though, so it was only a two day delay. Single player campaign is great - story and setting is outstanding. Far too short though. Finished on hard in about 5 and a half hours. As far as multiplayer goes, servers are very empty, and I have hardly been able to play against other users. You also need a pretty jacked up rig to run this with decent resolution. So, all in all, a good game but nothing to really remember. It could have been brilliant but it let itself down.

I have always enjoyed the Call of Duty (COD) series of games and religiously bought each new iteration on their annual release. The last two (Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2) have left me with a semi-bitter taste in my mouth though. It feels like more of the same with new window dressing.
Homefront on the other hand, somehow feels fresh.
Homefront's story provides a bleak prospect of "what if the superpowers of the world went to war and the underdog came out on top". It pro@#$es thoughts of how violent our civilization has become and what would happen if war spilled over to suburbs where everyday people live. COD is war. This, is personal.
During the opening in-game cut-scene, an event your character witnesses left me with a sick feeling in my stomach. Homefront holds no punches but it manages to deliver the message a lot clearer as a result. You connect with the despair around you and you feel like you want to make a difference in this upside down world you find yourself in.
Gameplay is from the top shelves. Movements feel crisp, environments are very detailed and a lot of effort has gone into each area, and guns have a satisfactory oomph to them. If you like the COD, Medal of Honour and Battlefield type games, Homefront will definitely be up your alley.
Although the campaign is short, (7 missions in total spanning around 5-7 hours of gameplay), I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the game's single player story. If you crank up the difficulty to Guerilla, you can squeeze another 2 - 3 hours of gameplay out of Homefront, but that's only because you'll die a lot and spend a lot of time re-playing areas as the game does get unfair on this difficulty. Even so, this is the difficulty I played on and though the unfair becomes frustrating, the sense of achievement for overcoming these hurdles is a nice reward.
I'd recommend Homefront to anybody who not only likes a good FPS, but also for those looking for something different. I dare say you might enjoy it more than COD - I know I did.

I havent been able to play the game yet, as it requires an update after installation that is 7gb in size. I dont have unlimited data at 1st world speed so am unable to play the game until i have downloaded the update bit by bit, month by month. Hugely frustrating.

Quite frankly, don't waste your money. It's another Steam disaster but even worse seeing as you need to download about 4GB before you can play the game. And when you do its really disappointing, average graphics, average storyline but the campaign is really short too. Save your money and get Crysis 2. This is not even an option.
