I have been playing this game for the past two weeks now and my overall opion is pretty much average. When compared to games like Forza motorsport and Gran Turismo, it is quite lacking in the realism department. When you first start out the cars feel like shopping carts and rear wheel drive cars are especially hard to keep on the track. As you progress in the game and you aquier more funds whith which you can upgrade your vehicles which enables you to tune the vehicle in order to get better handling. Beware though, as you progress in the game cars get a lot faster and it is verry tricky to handle them on the smaller tracks. Custamisation options are pretty much what you are used to in the other Need for Speed titles. The list of vehicles in the game is satisfying but not ideal. Most of the talked about vehicles are included. The drift races are a nightmare to master if you are a novice driver. It will take hours of practice and tuning to get it right, however if you eventually get it, it is a lot of fun. All and all NFS Shift 2 is a good game to play, but if you are a racing sim fanatic you might want to give this one a skip. Just of note, if you are getting the PC version it would be a wise idea to invest in a decent game pad. I myself use the Microsoft wireless Xbox 360 controller and I must say it makes a big difference.
