Long description
The creators of Guitar Hero leap genres from rock and roll to hip hop in this turntable rhythm game from Activision.
After the success of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, rhythm games are back on top as a popular game genre the world over. After a long spell of rock-based musical titles, it’s now time for hip hop to make its move into the rhythm realm with DJ Hero, where players take the role of a famed DJ using their own turn table peripheral. Those who have played Guitar Hero will be at home with DJ Hero’s controller, with the same basic button structure now spread across a turntable. Over 100 individual songs span a variety of genres, from artists such as Black Eyed Peas, 50 Cent, Marvin Gaye, Beastie Boys and N.E.R.D.
Using the turntable, players can cross-fade and beat match individual tracks, transforming each song with a variety of effects and samples. Where Guitar Hero moved players through the ranks of the rock and roll underworld, DJ Hero places players into the party nightlife of real world locations, including a Hollywood Hills mansion and an open-top beach club.
Moving from rock to rap, DJ Hero captures the creativity and style the hip hop world has to offer, its slick turntable letting players experience the DJ nightlife.
