This is a shameless disgusting manipulative transgression against the original novel. This latest adaptation of Dumas' work captures little of the angst that makes up the wonderful tragic character that is the Count of Monte Christo. Horrible movie.

I found this movie delightful! I watched it first at a cinema while touring in the UK and when I came home to SA I had to wait months before I could see it again! It's a poignant love story that will appeal to young and old. This exciting version of the Count of Monte Cristo is definitely a good addition to any DVD collection. It's the type of movie you will want to watch over again and that doesn't happen often!

Beautifull Love Story

I watched the original series in french and when the movie came out thought that it wouldn't match up. I was in fact pleasantly surprised because i feel they got the essence of the original and it was still a touching adventure and love story. Jim Caviezel as always is excellent, portraying the count in a sensitive manner. A few of my friends as well as myself have seen this movie several times and have subsequently bought the DVD.
