Heroine:Reborn
Reviewed by Riyaan Wiener from Cape Town, South Africa on 23 March 2013
Firstly, let me start by saying, that I've never really been a fan of Tomb Raider.
Granted, I had a certain appreciation for her, but the series never seemed to hit home for me.
That said, after playing this iteration (undoubtedly as ground-breaking as the first one was),
I'm converted. The story unfolds in a manner that seems effortless, suggestive and believable.
Lara finally seems to be one with her voice - extra kudos to Camilla Luddington for her authentic portrayal of a young girl finding her way against immeasurable odds.
The game is jam-packed with action and suspense wrapped within sheer cinematic brilliance.
It's also harrowingly dark and gritty, something I welcome as a gamer.
Something familiar yet something newly found.
The enviroment design lays the foundation for awesome set-pieces which in turn do not seem out of the flow of character development. Sound and lighting design shine together as you make your way through decimated airplane wreckages, moody Japanese forests and larger-than-life cliffhangers.
Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have created a game capable
of humbling the hypocrite and silencing the sceptic.
When a storyline is progressive, the technology able and the gamer willing...
A Survivor Is Born...
PS. Skip right ahead and play on the toughest level - you won't regret it.

Tomb Raider 2013

The game in nutshell very imersive and fun to play.
The story is exelent and the cut seens very well done. The transition between cutseen and gameplay feels almost perfect. The gameplay is great even allowing for shoulder camera swaping.
It is truly a masterpiece of game development. Its almost if crystal dynamics went for a developement course.
I'd never thought I saw the that crystal dynamis would hold n candle next to naughty dog but it happened.
It plays alot like the uncharted series but in a sense more defined. The game really seems polished with a great crafting system. In a sense using crafting materials like a currency is weird but works really well. The weapon upgrades has truly a noticable effect making the grind for salvage fun, exiting and satisfing. The level or more accurately called skill system is great. If you grind hard enough every skill can be unlock. No trees so that you have to choose from. And it is tangeble skills that make sense for the senario.
It is in essence a AAA title that is a experiance not to be missed. Well done crystal dynamics.
