The Best Of SA Pop Volume 1 and 2 covers a wide range of hit makers (unfortunately most of them one-hit-wonders) and some singles you may already have on a series of other compilations, but I’ve never come across such a comprehensive collection of South African Pop on any album before.

If you include Volume 1, you have 4 CDs, totaling 84 individual songs.

And most of them were not the number ones of their time, but certainly the most memorable. And even if you don’t remember all of them, the compilations all contain notes on the songs and the artists, which makes for great reading while you ‘refresh’ your mind of a time gone by.

This is an eye opening period in SA pop, this is where the quality of SA music started taking a giant leap in production, song writing and performance, some excellent world standard songs. Great stuff for younger persons to explore and hear where SA music comes from. Most enjoyable listen.
