Short description

Sixo Diaz Rodriguez was born on 10 July 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, USA Rodriguez became intrigued by music after picking up the family guitar at the age of 16. This aspiring singer-songwriter secured his first recording contract in 1967. It was only in 1969 that he entered a Detroit recording studio during August and September to lay down the tweleve tracks that would comprise "Cold Fact".

"Cold Fact" was released in South Africa, in 1971, into a conservative society where oppression and censorship were the order of the day. Teenagers, students and national servicemen, disillusioned by these conditions, embraced Rodriguez's simple songs that used references to drugs, social decay, political apathy, depression and sex to point out what was wrong with this world. His sound is timeless and doesn't date... it still sounds fresh today. This timeless appeal was evident on both South African tours, 1998 and 2001, when the audiences at the sold-out concerts included everyone from young children to over-the-hill burnt-out hippies!
