It’s been a long time since kwatio produced a “new” name that sparks fear and admiration in the hearts of fellow artists, and earn praise from the staunchest of critics. Well, that’s about to change with the introduction of Blackjack’s
Howza on an exciting and bold solo tip. He drops his debut “eclectic” 11 track album,
Cut to The Chase, that’s set to take the industry to another level, and earn him a name as the face of kwaito.
For some time now, many have been raving about his razor-sharp delivery skills that helped make Blackjack what it is, and knew he could stand his own as a solo artist.
Of course, for those who know their music, they would attest to the fact that his moving from singing to rapping with easy on the Gunpowder album, released back in 2003, was a clear sign that he was a special artist, who had a lot to offer the industry. “This is my first album and I made it a point to talk about myself,” states Howza. The former Backstage star says “Cut to The Chase” is about where he is from, where he is going and mostly, what he is about “without beating about the bush”. Produced by D’Rex and Mandla “Spikiri” Mofokeng, the album features kwaito star Kabelo and newcomer, Skhumba Touch. The result is a hard-hitting, relentless and brilliant winner that will get you jamming nonstop.
