The album has been certified 4× platinum in the US and 2× platinum in the UK. Greatest Hits debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 530,000 copies sold.As of April 2012, the album has sold approximately 4.15 million copies in the US.

The album stayed at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for 11 consecutive weeks.
