SHANA (Simply Hot And Naturally African) is a three member band from KZN now based in Gauteng. The members are DJ Nkosinathi Maphumulo, popularly known as Blackcoffee, from Umlazi, Mnqobi Mdabe, a voice lecturer at one of the colleges in Durban from Ntuzuma Township and Thandukwazi Sikhosana, a piano lecturer from Bruntville Township in Mooi River.
The threesome met in 1997 at Technikon Natal while studying music. Their shared passion for music led to an instant understanding of one another and the formation of the group SHANA. SHANA write, compose and produce their own songs. The group have over the years co-produced albums and songs for other artists, the likes of Lebo Mathosa, which won her the 2005 SAMA Dance Album award and DJ's@work's, the 2005 finalist in the same category.
