MAGIC is
Bruce Springsteen's new studio recording and his first with E Street Band in five yars. Produced and mixed by Brendan O'Brien, the slbum features eleven new Springsteen songs. It was recorded as Southern Tracks Recording Studio in Altanta, GA.
It's Springsteen and the E Street Band's first record since 2002's Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum, number one album THE RISING, which was also produced by O'Brien. Bruce Springsteen's longtime manager Jon Landau has described the album as "a high energy rock CD".
"It's light on its feet, incredibly well played by Bruce and the members of the E Street Band, and, as always, has plenty to say. It's also immensly entertaining." The lead single is the anthemic "Radio Nowhere" which is already stirring the interest of Springsteen's fans around the world.
The E Street Band's contribution to the album is immense and they will be supporting Springsteen during his tour to promote MAGIC. Indeed many have described the album as "E Street Band heavy." Other highlights on MAGIC include "The Long Walk Home", which was performed live on one occasion on the Seeger Sessions tour.
'Girls In Their Summer Clothes" has a pop feel to it with critics likening it to the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" mixed in with the sound of the E Street Band. A Springsteen album would not be complete without a pilitical track and this come sin album closer, "Devil's Arcade."
Says Landau, "He gets some images across that are very powerful and will certainly give you a feeling of where he's coming from, but on balance (politics) is not the primary intention of this record."
